Holiday Wine Pairings at Chaumette

Holiday Wine Pairings at Chaumette

One of Chaumette’s many goals is to bring people together over a fine glass of wine and a delectable meal. This season, we want to ensure that can happen by helping you pair our wine with your favorite holiday meals. Here are several options for you to choose from while feasting upon the following items:

Oven-Roasted Turkey

Out of all the meats in the world, one sure to make its way to many Americans’ plates this year is an oven-roasted turkey. Although the skin is typically basted, white meat tends to leave a dry taste in the mouth. Here are a few pairings we recommend:

  • Assemblage, N.V. – Perfect for poultry, this off-dry red, medium-bodied wine will introduce your mouth to a combination of cherry, strawberry, and black pepper.
  • Mosaic, N.V. – A medium-bodied red wine, each glass poured is delightfully accompanied by just a hint of cherry.
  • 2017 Unoaked Chardonel – Enveloped with lemon, grapefruit, and Fuji apple, this white wine also includes undertones of honey.
  • 2017 Reserve Chardonel – The Reserve Chardonel is more of a complex white wine with peach, citrus, and vanilla.

Cranberry Sauce

Typically found as a side dish around the holidays, cranberry sauce is a sweet, tart treat. The following wines should offer a balancing effect to your mouthfeel depending on the recipe. This sauce can include anything from nuts to cinnamon.

  • Semi-Dry Vignoles – Blending acidity and sweetness, our Vignoles offers floral notes and a touch of tropical fruits.
  • 2017 Norton Reserve – Currants, dark berry fruit, and cherry hints compose this full-bodied, French Oak-aged red wine. Enjoy every sip partnered with tastes of baking spice, cracked pepper, and vanilla highlights.
  • 2017 Shumate Blanc – Wait for the smooth finish, which follows a fruity profile and a floral bouquet. Trust us; it won’t take long to finish the bottle.

Pies for Dessert

An essential part of any family meal, dessert takes on a more important role during the holidays. When it comes to pie, flavors include apple, cherry, pecan, pumpkin, and so many other delicious options.

  • 2013 Port – The richness of the Port allows it to match almost any flavor of pie. Grape Brandy preserves the wine’s natural sugars over 18 months before it reaches its peak and is ready to be bottled.
