A Special Announcement from Chaumette
Although Chaumette is more than a winery, wine is our passion and at the core of everything we do. In July 2021, we were devastated when a fire broke out in the building that housed our winemaking facility and offices. The building, located about one mile from the Tasting Room, Grapevine Grill and wedding barn, was the first building owners Hank and Jackie Johnson built when Chaumette was established in 1990. It held years of precious past vintages, irreplaceable items and memories. We are incredibly grateful for the first responders and firefighters that responded to the fire that night and, most importantly, that no one was injured.
Thankfully, we were able to relocate our staff’s offices to a different building on property and after months of picking up the pieces, ideation and planning, we are thrilled to finally announce we have a new winemaking facility under construction!
The new facility, next to our Grapevine Grill restaurant and Tasting Room, is on track to open this Fall, just in time for harvest. One of the most challenging outcomes of losing our operations building has been that we have not been able to make wine, which means we have not had our wines in stock for guests to enjoy. Chaumette may be a destination for delicious food, beautiful views, and relaxing stays in our villas, but wine will always be the heart of our business, and we cannot wait until we can serve Chaumette wines again.
We want to thank all of you for being patient with us during this time. Our team has selected a great variety of wines for you to enjoy when you visit for now, and the construction of our new winery means Chaumette wines will be back soon. Until then, we look forward to sharing updates as construction continues and progress is made.
