9 Necessities to Consider for a Perfect Summer Wedding
Summer is finally here, which means that wedding season is officially upon us. What’s not to love about a summertime celebration of love? Flowers are in full bloom, the world is steeped in the deepest shades of emerald and forest green, and everyone’s favorite fruits and vegetables are in season. It’s undoubtedly one of the most romantic times of the year! If you’re already in the middle of planning your summer wedding or are simply daydreaming about it for now, rely on us to give you the tips you need to have a perfect summer wedding.
Consider Having an Indoor Wedding
Just because the sun’s out doesn’t mean you absolutely must celebrate outdoors! In fact, an indoor wedding venue can be just as summery and stunning as an outdoor one. It can also be much more comfortable for you, your spouse-to-be, and your guests in the heat of the day. Venues that welcome in plenty of sunlight or allow you to decorate it with summertime lanterns or fairy lights might be the answer you’re looking for!
Keep Everyone Hydrated
When the mercury rises it’s vital that you and your guests remain as hydrated as possible. Set up a refreshment station to help everyone quench their thirst on your special day! Bottles of water, fruit-infused water, coconut water, and lemonade are all excellent choices (and also look nice in photos!).
Seek Out Some Shade
No one wants to be outside in the hot sun all day, no matter the occasion. Keep your guests comfortable and cool by minimizing their time spent in the direct sun as much as possible. If you can, provide areas in which guests can escape from the sun such as tents or seating that’s shaded by umbrellas. Even a location filled with plenty of shady trees can work wonders on those particularly oppressive summer days!
Think About Your Fans
Handheld paper fans are crucial when it comes to producing some air movement of your own. Include a basket full of folding fans for your guests’ convenience. You can also make your wedding programs pull double duty by creating memorable fans out of them! Adorable paper parasols can also be an elegant and sophisticated way to shield your guests from the unforgiving afternoon sun.
Get an Early (or Late) Start
Who says you must be married at a certain time of the day? It’s your special day – you get to decide! If you’d like to beat the summertime heat, we suggest hosting your wedding earlier or later in the day. We at Chaumette are quite fond of sunset ceremonies! There’s just something magical about the way the radiant colors of the sunset dapple the gorgeous rolling hills of the Saline Creek River Valley.
Tone Down the Dress Code
Summer and heavy fabrics like brocade or taffeta don’t tend to mix well. Opt for lighter attire so you and your guests can celebrate your big day comfortably. Lighter, more flowing fabrics are the answer to staying cool in the summer. Think fabrics like luxurious silk or lightweight linens to keep everyone looking chic without leaving them sweltering.
Stay Cool With Frozen Refreshments and Treats
Nothing is more welcomed on a stifling summer day than a refreshingly cold treat. Celebrate the season by providing popsicles and your favorite flavors of ice cream with choice toppings at the dessert bar. Watermelon slices on popsicle sticks are also a fantastic way to stay hydrated while savoring the sweetness of summer!
Provide a Basket of Summertime Necessities
When your guests are preparing themselves for your big day, they might not immediately think about bringing some of the essentials with them like sunscreen. Cater to their needs by setting out a summertime station that has all of the items your guests may require such as sunscreen, insect repellant, and sunglasses (which can double as a fun prop for photos!). Your attendees will appreciate your thoughtfulness on your special day!
